SUBJECT TUTORING
MindMap works with students, kindergarten through graduate school, who are looking to strengthen academic skills, deepen their understanding of academic content, or pursue enrichment opportunities beyond the standard curriculum. Our tutors provide individualized support across virtually all academic subjects, helping students master challenging material, prepare for important tests, and develop effective, content-related study habits. By combining strong content knowledge with an understanding of how students learn best, we help learners build confidence and achieve their academic goals. We also support students who are home-schooled, and have tutors specifically trained in curriculum development.

MATH
Support is available across a wide range of math subjects, from elementary arithmetic through advanced college-level coursework. Areas of expertise include Algebra I & II, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus I–III, Statistics, and independent mathematics research projects. Instruction is tailored to each student's learning style, goals, and academic needs. MindMap also has math specialists on staff that have a particular skillset in working with students who have an identified Learning Disorder in Math (dyscalculia).
SCIENCE
Instruction is available in high school and college Physics. Sessions focus on building conceptual understanding, strengthening problem-solving skills, and improving confidence with scientific reasoning and quantitative analysis.
LITERACY (READING/WRITING)
Students receive individualized support in various aspects of reading and writing. Reading support is offered in decoding, comprehension, and fluency development. Writing support is offered with sentence development, idea generation, writing fluency, essay writing, and editing and revision. MindMap has learning specialists on staff with a particular skillet in working with students with both reading and writing Learning Disorders.
Within writing have a particular speciality in working with students whose writing is negatively impacted by anxiety and perfectionism.
PSYCHOLOGY & SOCIAL SCIENCES
Support is available for (AP) Psychology and related social science coursework. Support includes content review, study strategies, developing and planning research projects, and assistance with understanding complex psychological concepts at the high school and college levels.
COMPUTER SCIENCE
Students can develop technical and creative skills through instruction in basic coding technology-focused projects. Lessons emphasize problem-solving, digital literacy, design thinking, and real-world applications of technology.
VISUAL, DIGITAL, AND MUSICAL ARTS
For students who enjoy making and creating, enrichment opportunities include photography, 3D design (CAD), Inkscape, and Photoshop. These experiences foster creativity, patience, and confidence while encouraging students to explore their interests in a supportive environment. MindMap also offers support in AP Music Theory, and can support young musicians in the development of sight-reading.
WORLD LANGUAGES
Instruction is available in French, Italian, and Spanish. Beginning language learners as well as those approaching fluency are supported across all three languages.
CHESS AND OTHER INTERESTS
In addition to chess instruction, other interests that students may want to pursue (sewing and other crafts; video game design, etc.) can be supported. Even without advanced degrees in an area, some of our tutors have developed particular competence in these "extracurricular" interests.
